Step 2: Setting up Control Studio
Step 1: Downloading the software
Control Studio is available for Download on the portal via portal.cntrl.io. Log in with your user account and go to Software -> Desktop Software and download the latest version from there.
Note: Don't use Microsoft Edge for the download.
Step 2: Installing the software
Double click on the .exe file to launch the installation process in your Downloads folder. Windows might ask you to not run it. To run it anyways click more info and the button will appear.
Check the box to agree to the terms and conditions of the license.
If you wish to read the details of the agreement please click on the Licenses terms and conditions link, once you have read the agreement click Accept and Install
If you are using a Marelli logger, tick the box to install the RS232 drivers necessary to send data to WTSS. If you are not using Marelli, leave these drivers uninstalled for increased performance.
During the installation, and depending on the security settings on your computer, you may be prompted to either click yes, or enter your credentials to allow the installer to make changes to your device.
The installer will check that the required Microsoft .net core framework and Microsoft Edge WebView2 libraries are installed. If they are not the installer will fetch them from Microsoft and prompt for installation.
The installer will also ensure the required Thales LDK runtime is installed, this is required for software protection and licensing and the application will not run without this component.
Click Finish to close the installer once done, if you not wish to open Control Studio after installation you can uncheck the box of running Control Studio when clicking Finish.
After successful installation, Control Studio will have created a desktop link to enable easy access to the software.
Step 3: Licensing the Software
You are required to be logged in to Control Studio in order to activate licenses. See Step 1 in Quick Start.
Once logged in to Control Studio select the Tools -> Licenses Available menu. From here you can see the licenses that are available to your user account. Click on the license you wish to use and click the Activate License button. The license will be activated. The product type will now be shown in the bottom left of the application
If you wish to move a software license to another computer please email support@cntrl.io with the type of license and the name of the computer where it is currently activated. Control will re-allocate the license and make it available for use on another computer.
Step 4: Create Team Configuration
Select File -> Create Team Configuration. It will open up a configuration wizard. Enter a name for your configuration, if you wish to name the configuration other than the default. Once the name is correct click Next. Select the vehicles you would like to add to the configuration, click Next. Select the modems you would like to add to the configuration, click Next. Verify that the correct items are selected, click Finish to complete the creation of your configuration.
Once the team configuration is created and your devices are online and configured (see step 3) you should see data arriving.
Next Step: Configure vehicle software for the incoming telemetry stream
Check on the the categories of your logger or ECU provider for information on how to set up your telemetry stream for the vehicle third party software.
